COMMISSION FAQS

The following is a list of frequently asked questions.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me Keith@Ariesartist.com.

How does the portrait process begin?
After you have emailed all the necessary information about the size of the portrait you want, the description of the animal or person, I will need to take photos of the subject or you will need to send me photos of the subject. If I have the photos taken, there are additional costs for traveling expenses and film expenses. An appointment will be set up to take the photo shoot, and then we will meet and discuss which of the photos you like best.

You will need to send approximately 3-6 good photos of the subject to be drawn.

Yes. I return all original photos, along with the completed commission piece.

The cost of the portrait is negotiated with the artist. A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required with the order.

Commissions are handled on a first come, first serve basis. Completion times are estimated based on the receipt of the images or photographs and the size and detail of the portrait. Small portraits take anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks and larger portraits take anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks.

I will post the progress of the commission at my Blog, allowing you the opportunity to view the progress of the portrait.
What method of payments do you accept?
I accept US check, certified check or money orders only. A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required with the order, the remaining balance is due when the portrait is completed. There is a waiting period on all checks, till the check has cleared, before I start on the portrait. A $30.00 fee will be charged for non-negotiable checks.

If you live around the Los Angeles, California area, I will deliver your portrait. If you are outside the area, your portrait will be shipped insured.  Shipping and handling charges are an additional cost and will be added to the portrait cost. Shipping and handling costs will be based on the size of the portrait.

Thank you for your interest in my artwork!

 •  Please email  3 to 4 photographs of each subject.

 •  Please email  pictures in high resolution.

 •  Try to send one close up of head (s). If possible send a few with different angles of the subject.

 •  Please indicate which photo depicts the subject's eyes and coloring the best.

 •  Please make sure all pictures are at EYE LEVEL. The eyes are most important feature of any portrait.

 •  Avoid sending photos that have bright sunlight, flash photography, red eye or unnecessary shadows on the subject.

 •  Try taking pictures outside or near window where natural light is coming in. Early morning and late afternoon light are particular good times to take pictures because the light is softer.
